Hospital Dental Services compose of dental professional in palliative care and joins multidisciplinary teams to ensure that oral needs are managed effectively for vulnerable and medically compromised people to promote continuity of oral care. Delivers oral health care and most important the degree to which dental diseases is almost entirely preventable ensuring that residents enjoy the long benefits of good oral health.

Services Offered:

  • Initial assessment upon admission
  • -dental examination is a systematic process during which your dentist/dental staff will investigate many facets of your oral and systemic health in order to identify pathologies or concerns and develop a uniquely customized treatment plan that is catered towards maximizing your oral health.

  • Reassessment /Periodic oral evaluation
  • -An evaluation performed on a patient of record to determine any changes in the patient’s dental and medical health status since a previous dental examination and it is done every 6 months.

  • Attend referrals from the ward/Limited oral evaluation
  • – Evaluation that is limited to a specific oral health problem or complaint. Typically, patients receiving this type of evaluation present with a specific problem and/or dental emergency. Treatment plan is recommended base on the dental findings/diagnosis.

  • Recall examination
  • – Very important component of dental health .This is for patients being referred from the ward by medical practitioners and usually occurs when patient is prescribed with medication to treat oral infection. The amount of time between recalls is individualized to meet each patient’s needs and to check the development of the case after completion of prescribed medication.

  • Provide oral care instructions and counseling
  • – Consultant advice on Dental care maintenance of healthy teeth and may refer to oral hygiene, the practice of keeping the mouth and teeth clean in order to prevent dental disorders.

    Education is provided to patient, family and nurses about the nature of the problem, the time needed to complete the course of treatment and procedures if required.

  • Provides Dental Reports
  • Dental reports are forwarded to primary hospital to get appointment where the treatment of certain patients with medical considerations which make it desirable for the treatment to be carried out in a hospital.
